Mal & Nick | Winter Engagement

Mal & Nick made my job easy. They were a blast to work with.

Working with them helped me realize that human interaction should be the #1 focus in my photography. Thanks Nick and Mal, I can’t wait until we do another session before your wedding.

More to come shortly. I’m starting to like taking pictures when it’s freezing outside. Taken 2 hours after this consultation.

Consultations

What originally was scheduled to be a consultation to discuss a wedding, turned into a mini-engagement session.

Thank you Laura and Adam for being up for some quick portraits. I’m really, really looking forward to your wedding in June!

Tyler & Sami | Iowa City Engagement Session

Tyler asked, “Do you care if we take some photos of us with our dogs out at my parents’ house?”

I replied, “Let’s do it, that’s better than leaving the dogs in the car.”

They both looked at me blank and said that the dogs were in the car. I thought that was funny, but when they mentioned that the dogs were a Boxer and an American Bulldog, I knew the dogs could endure the cold.

We certainly didn’t mind the cold, and I think the photos came out awesome. Thanks Tyler for recommending an outdoor winter engagement session. And, thank you Sami for agreeing to go along with it!

Tom & Lena | 10.26.2009

Many brides often ask the question, “when is it a good time to take engagement photos?”

I reply, “Anytime. It’s up to you, but it’s definitely a good idea that we get acquainted with each other before your wedding.”

Tom and Lena decided to have their engagement photos taken within the same week as their wedding. How the two photo sessions overlapped, I consider the whole thing just one big event. It also was rad because when I showed up to their wedding, it was really just a continuation from a few days prior. Great idea Tom and Lena, thank you.

Take a look, cause colors like these in fall wedding pictures are only possible for a short window in Iowa. Everything worked out better than perfect for a late October wedding.

Eric & Brittany | Engagement Session

The weather in Iowa has been extremely unpredictable lately. Brittany mentioned that they wanted fall photos, but we were having trouble making them happen due to the weather.

I sent Brittany a text on the Sunday after Halloween to see if they wanted to do their engagement photos. Luckily she agreed and made this challenge a reality last minute. The weather was perfect for photos.

I am looking forward to photographing their wedding next summer, because they were extremely easy to work with. Cool, laid back, and natural…

Take a look at these photos, and enjoy!
